Ethanol plant still up in the air
Will it come, or won`t it?
That`s the question on the minds of residents of Birch Hills as Iogen Corporation seeks funding to build a celluloic ethanol plant in North America, especially since the company has not yet reached a decision about where it will build a plant.
According to news reports, the choice was between Idaho and Birch Hills.
"Iogen has suspended operations in Idaho," said company spokesperson Mandy Chepeka, adding that state "has tremendous potential for celluloic ethanol."
Chepeka said Iogen is currently in the due diligence stage of seeking funding, and Sustainable Development Technology Canada — a not-for-profit foundation that finances and supports the development of clean technologies providing solutions to climate change issues — will make a decision on the money after that phase.
