Ontario to Ottawa: Soaring taxes your problem

City politicians have enough tools to fix unfairness in the property tax system, and the province has no intention of addressing the issue any time soon, the Ontario government said yesterday.

"There are no plans to reconsider," said Steve Erwin, spokesman for Finance Minister Dwight Duncan. "They have the ability to do many things to lessen the impact of rising property assessments on people."
