Halifax housing starts update
HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwired - Nov. 8, 2013) - Housing starts in Halifax, Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) were trending at 2,734 units in October compared to 2,462 in September according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). The trend is a six month moving average of the monthly seasonally adjusted annual rates (SAAR)[sup]1[/sup] of housing starts.
"Housing starts in Halifax trended higher in October," said Guillaume Neault, Senior Market Analyst with CMHC's Atlantic Business Centre. "Residential construction activity continues to be supported by activity in the multi-family segment, specifically the apartment-rental market," added Neault.
