How to view all new posts from a certain date?

Hi,

Hoping someone can help on this one.

Here`s the problem: The forum sets the "last visit date" every time you visit. So if you last read the forums on "Aug 1 6pm" and in the mean time ("Aug 6 10am") you get an email with a link to the myREINspace forums and you visit that link but do not have time to read the forums, it sets your "last visit date" to "Aug 6 10am". Thus, the next time you visit and click the "View new posts" link it gives you all the posts since "Aug 6 10am".

So, how do I get the new posts since "Aug 1 6pm" instead??

Hopefully I`m just missing something...

The "View New Posts" function is not exactly customizable so you are correct in saying that it isn`t perfect. It works basically as you described it: it shows you new posts since your last visit, whether you viewed them or not.

There are, however, other ways to check and see if there are new posts within a forum or topic. Along the left-hand side you`ll see little folder graphics. A grey folder (

) means that you`ve viewed the latest posts in this thread; a red folder (

) indicates a new thread or content within a thread.

Within "View New Posts", there is a useful tool to help you keep track of new posts in conjunction with the red/grey folders. There`s a button entitled "Mark all forums as read and return to index" that will turn everything grey. That way you can click this button on "Aug 1 6pm" and then even though you visit the site on "Aug 6 10am", on "Aug 31 7pm" you will see red folders next to anything you may have missed since August 1st.
