Changing Avatar and personal photo

Update to post below: I don`t know if someone intervened or if time was all that was needed, but after a couple of hours, my new avatar appeared. There must be a way to make this more user-friendly. Cheers.

I changed my avatar and personal photo and each time that I try, it says that the change has been successfully completed. But when I exit the change info screen, the old photos are still displayed.

I have tried these changes several different ways (I am unsure why there would be more than one place to make the changes) and the photos are the right size and type.
