Water supply fragile, experts say
Water has been called the "blue gold" of the 21st century, and it is one of Canada`s most abundant resources.
While many countries struggle for enough fresh water, Canada has about 20% of the world`s supply. But that is no reason for complacency: The meaningful figure for conservation purposes, environmentalists say, is renewable freshwater from rain and snowmelt. Natural Resources Canada reports the country has under 10% of the world`s renewable water supply.
