Employment levels up in September

Wages and employment levels jumped in Saskatchewan in September, as the province continued to be among the nation`s leaders in economic growth.

Data released by Statistics Canada Friday indicated the average weekly earnings of employees in Saskatchewan increased by 4.1 per cent in September compared to September of last year. That was above the national average increase of 3.3 per cent, with only Alberta (5.9 per cent) and New Brunswick (4.3 per cent) posting higher increases in average wages than Saskatchewan.

New-look wards swap neighbourhoods

Saskatoon`s jigsaw-puzzle political map gets a new look next fall, with eight neighbourhoods moving into different city wards.

The boundaries of only three of 10 wards -- 3, 4 and 7 -- stay the same. All others see a neighbourhood or two added or subtracted.

The changes are triggered by a growing population disparity among wards.

Companies plan drill program in Athabasca Basin

Titan Uranium Inc. and its project partner, Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corp. (JOGMEC), have moved two drill rigs and a field crew to the Border Block project in the southwest area of the Athabasca Basin.
