Port Colborne Applying for MIII Cash
QUOTE Port Colborne will be looking for its share of the $300-million Municipal Infrastructure Investment Initiative announced last week by provincial finance minister Dwight Duncan.
Municipalities have until Feb. 15 to apply for provincial funding under the new infrastructure program designed to assist a broad array of needs.
During Monday`s council meeting, Mayor Vance Badawey signaled his desire to pursue the new funding opportunity.
"Funding will be available to eligible municipalities for construction-ready municipal infrastructure projects," the mayor said in his opening remarks. "All types of municipally-owned infrastructure are eligible for funding, except for public transit infrastructure, as this was dealt with under a separate allocation."
