I have been wondering what is the best direction to allow maximum direct sunlight in principal rooms like kitchen and family room? Ideal would be all day sunlight in the home. (In Southern Ontario).

Hi RELover
I have a listing in Calgary right now that has east exposure with large windows on both levels. In the summer you get the morning and day sunlight you desire and can still sit on the deck through most of the day. People coming into my open houses are complaining that they can't use their west-facing backyards because of the evening heat.

Some Asians prefer east facing principal rooms but most other folks prefer south, SW or west exposure.

It matters also what you see ( yard, trees, lake, ocean or mountain ) or ugly industrial landscape or high fences.
