Led by the East Coast, the nation`s oil output cracked the billion-barrel mark for the first time in 2007, Statistics Canada reported Wednesday.
Canadian companies produced a record 1.01 billion barrels of oil and equivalents last year, up about 4.2 per cent from 2006.
The figure works out to 2.77 million barrels per day including bitumen and associated natural gas liquids.
