I
live in British Columbia, on Vancouver Island, in the Lady Smith
area. From the windows at the back of my home I have a clear view of
the Strait of Georgia. I live 30 minutes from my parents, my brother
and his family, and an hour and a half from my sister and her
husband. My two daughters live in the same town and I was able to
help them invest in a home for themselves.

My
dream home is beautiful! The moment I found the picture of it I was
in love with it! I designed the inside, (room plans). I have hired
Candice Olsen, interior designer from Toronto to do the decorating of
my home.

It
is a large spacious 4 bedroom home, with a guest suite in the
basement. From the curb it has a stone and siding exterior. The
stones right at the front entrance go from the foundation to just
below the upper level of the home, and the rest of the home has the
stones a quarter of the way up from the foundation. The stones are
in colours of light taupe, dark taupe, and white. The mortar is
light taupe. At the front entrance are two cylinder shaped pillars,
white in colour, they are located on either side of the front door.
The front door, is a double door, and is a dark taupe with a curved
shape at the top, with large windows in each door. Above the front
door is a hanging black coach style light fixture. The front porch
and steps are made of slate stone the steps are a half circle shape.
There is a sidewalk leading from the steps to the driveway also made
with slate stone. The double driveway is made of stamped cement in a
light taupe tone. To the left of the front door is a large
picturesque front window with a white frame and it has a curved top.
The top portion of the window has a white lattice style decoration in
it. The two side pains open to let in the breeze. Below this window
is a flower box that was built right into the wall using the same
stone on the wall. To the right of the front entrance is a large
white framed bay shaped window. The two pains on the side of this
window also open to let in the breeze. On the right side of this
window is another white pillar that matches the ones on either side
of the front porch. This third pillar helps balance out the front of
my home. On the foundation under the front bay window are two
basement windows. The wall juts in right by the third white pillar
on that wall is a oval shaped white window, with a decorative middle.
There on the right of this window is a extra large double and a half
garage. The rest of the walls on the outside of my home from the
stone to the second story are done in medium shade of taupe siding.
The roof is done in a black shingle. The roof has several dormer
windows, peaked style. The one in the front of the home has a white
decorative board above it, and black shutters on either side.

As
you walk through the front doors you come into a very large front
foyer. There is a beautiful silk chandelier hanging in the centre of
the ceiling. The flooring throughout most of the house is wood, wide
plank, and light Grey in colour. It is also scratch and dent
resistant. To the left is a large closet for coats and foot ware. To
the right is a large ornate wooden half table, with a tall table lamp
with a silk shade. There is a dark wood stained framed mirror
hanging over the table. The trim in the room is painted white, three
of the walls are a pale green in a mate finish, and the fourth wall
in this room is a deep Charcoal colour. At the back half of the room
is a wood stair case that twists to the right as you climb to the
upper level. The staircase is made of the same grey wood as the
flooring, and the spindles are white, and the railing is grey to
match the flooring. There are two pillars under the balcony white
in colour, one is at the foot of the steps and the other across from
the stairs. To the right of the front closet is a set of french
doors. These doors slide into pockets in the wall. The french doors
are painted white and have bevelled glass windows in them.

-2-

On
the other side of the doors is the formal dining room. The table,
chairs, china cabinet, and buffet are my mother and fathers dining
set. The chairs have been recovered in a grey floral pattern. In the
china cabinet is my mothers good china set, (Green Asia, by
Wedgwood). I also have crystal wine glasses to match the china set.
Above my parents dining set hangs their Chrystal & gold colour
chandelier. The walls are painted a light sand colour and there is a
feature wall with decorative wall paper on it. At the front end of
the dining room is a huge picturesque window, (at the front of the
house). At the opposite end of the room is another set of french
doors painted white that slide into a wall pocket. On the other side
of this doorway is the kitchen. All trim and crown molding in the
this room, has been painted white.

As
you walk past the pillars in the front Foyer, to the right is a hall
way that takes you to the two and a half car garage, office, three
piece washroom, and a laundry room. To the left is a curved wall with
built in jut ins forming square spaces (shelves), each having a small
pot light in them. In these spaces I have a different multicoloured
glass vase/bowl. Straight ahead of this area leads to the kitchen and
dinning room. Straight ahead is the large living room. When you walk
into this room (living room), there are 4 steps down into to the
seating area. On the back wall is a stone fire place with a wood
mantle. The Mantle is the same colour as the floor. The fireplace
insert is gas. On either side of the fireplace are french doors and
floor to ceiling windows. The french doors open to the deck and back
yard. I have one custom chesterfield (seats 4) facing the fire place
and two love seats one on either side of the chesterfield facing one
another. The walls in this room are painted a light green the trim
and crown moulding are white. The grey floors have been carried
through in this room. There is a light green area rug in front of the
seating, with a Charcoal Grey coffee table and matching side tables
beside the chairs. On the side tables are glass table lamps with
white silk shades. At the top of the four steps is a wide area all
around the seating section if you are facing the fireplace, to the
left sits a baby grand piano. On the walls are family portraits and
art work my daughters have done for me.

The
Garage is an over sized two car garage. The garage is also insulated
and fully dry walled. With the extra room, there are built in storage
shelves. The garage doors have automatic openers.

Across
from the garage is my office. My office has floor to ceiling shelves
on the right when you walk into the room, They are painted white to
match the trim and the crown molding. The flooring is the grey
flooring continued on from the rest of the home. There is a large
picturesque window over looking the backyard garden and pool with a
view of the Straight of Georgia. In the left corner sitting
diagonally so that I may look out the window is my large solid wood
desk finished in a beige colour. I have an ergonomically shaped
chair and a apple desk top computer system with a printer and
scanner. Beside the desk is a floor lamp with a white silk shade. To
the left of the desk is a four drawer wooden file cabinet. My book
shelves are full of books. In the corner by the book shelves is a
comfortable arm chair with an auto-man a floor lamp and small side
table. From the centre of the ceiling hangs a light with a white
silk shade to match the other lamps. The walls in this room are
painted with earth tones, and the art work on the walls are of nature
scenes.

Beside
my office is a 3 piece washroom. This washroom contains a state of
the art shower (rain shower head), with toilet, storage unit, and a
quarts counter top with two under mounted sinks, and a custom made
cabinet. The flooring is ceramic and the shower is tiled as well. All
tiles are white and the walls are celery green in colour. There is a
window beside the shower with white curtains.

The
room on the other side of the washroom is the laundry room. There is

the room that faces the back yard, and the other face the side of the
house. There is a counter top with custom cupboards underneath and a

storage. The flooring in the room is a white ceramic tile. The walls
are a pale yellow. The trim is white. There is a door to the back
yard and a shower to the right in this room when you come in from
outside. This shower is for people who need to wash off before and
after going into the pool.

Back
at the front entrance there is a set of french doors to the right as
you come in the front door. This room is the Meditation room. Again
the flooring in this room has been continued from all other rooms.
There is a large cotton area rug, dark plum in colour. On top of the
area rug are 2 Yoga mats. On one wall is a huge picturesque Bay
window overlooking the front yard. There are white cotton curtains on
either side of the window. There are large paintings of nature scenes
in the room. Hanging from the ceiling is a simple white paper light,
round shaped. In one corner of the room is a fountain sitting on a
table. There is also a stereo in the room, (Bose), which plays all my
flute music and nature music. Also against the wall sitting on the
floor, is a Buddha statue. All trim and crown moulding in this room
has been painted white. Three walls in this room are painted beige
and the fourth feature wall is a Berry (Plum) shade. Also in this
room are several candles for burning during meditation.

On
the other side of the large sunken living room is a short hallway,
(you pass the rounded wall with the recessed shelves, and ornamental
glass pieces on them). Across from the rounded wall is a set of
stairs to the basement. The basement is fully finished. It has an
open concept with a complete entertainment system. A large 50`
television hanging on the wall, surround sound, stereo, etc. The room
is complete with a fully stalked wet bar, pool table, air hockey
table, and fuze ball table. There is a field stone gas fire place,
the guest bedroom is off to the right. The guest bedroom is set up to
be very comfortable and cozy like a hotel room. The comforter is in
earth tones and there are end tables on either side of the bed with
table lamps that are full of bling. There are extra fancy pillows on
the bed. In one corner of the room is a full length mirror, next to
this are built in book shelves. In this room there is a walk-in
closet. There is a seven piece luxurious washroom off the guest room.
The counter top is quarts, white with beige veins through it. His

counter top are custom made cabinets with drawers on the right and
left side. Also in the room is a floor to ceiling storage cabinet
for linens and toiletries, a soaker bath tub, a state of the art rain
shower, and toilet. There is also a door into the main recreation
room as well. The flooring in the bed room is hard wood, (grey in
colour). The lighting is glass with silk shades. The recreation
room has wall to wall carpeting, earth tone colours are in this room.

Also
in the basement is a high efficient gas furnace, (in a separate
room).

Back
upstairs, past the stairs to the basement is a state of the art
kitchen. All appliances are stainless steel. Oven, gas stove top,
large refrigerator with freezer on the bottom, and dishwasher. All
cabinets are custom made. The counter top is quartz with a vein of
grey throughout it. There is a built in spice rack, and a pull out

around in a u shape on one end of the the kitchen with a door into
the formal dining room. On the bottom of the upper cabinets

recessed lighting. On the other end of the of the kitchen is a large
nook where the table and eight chairs sit. The table and chairs are
custom made by the Mennonites. The nook is a half octagon shape
which are all windows over looking the back yard and the Straight of
Georgia. The walls are light grey and cabinets are white the flooring
is a grey tone wood continued from the rest of the home. All trim and
crown moulding in this room is painted white. There is an island in
the middle of the kitchen area where the cabinets are. There is a
back splash with white, silver, and glass tiles.

At
the top of the stairs to the upper floor is a very large sitting
room. The same wood laminate has been continued on in the upper
level. In the centre of this room is a very cozy over sized corner
chair from Urban barn, it is rounded in the front and has over sized
pillows lining it. This chair has a plush fabric in Charcoal grey and
is great to curl up on to read. There is a silver floor lamp beside
it with crystals hanging below the white silk shade. On the other
side of this seat is a side table with my latest favourite book on
it, and on the other side of this table is a cozy love seat, that is
done in a light tone of grey. Both seats rest on a large white area
rug. The sitting area faces the balcony that over looks the front
foyer. The spindle are wood painted white, and as mentioned before
the railing is the same shade of grey as the flooring. The walls in
this room are the same light green used in the foyer below. Off the

These shelves are painted white. Along the ceiling is crown moulding

There is a lot of bling bling in the room. It is also comfy and cozy
like a spa get away. The en-suite has a rain fall shower, with tiles

During the spring, summer, and fall the scent from the Lilac's,
spruce trees, and the salt water from the Straight can be noticed all
over the property. I have an under ground sprinkler system that is
timed to go on at certain times of the day to water the garden and
lawn. I have lawn care company come in once a week to trim the lawn
and weed the garden, during the summer months. My home sits on
approximately 50 acres of land. Where my home is located is a quiet
area, I can hear the birds singing, the insects buzzing, and the
ships sounding their horns in the Georgia Straight. I have a maid
service come into my home once per week, and additionally if I am
entertaining guests. Also I have a full time Chef making meals three
times per day. As well the pool company comes in once per week and
cleans the pool and checks the chemical levels.

Another
one of my goals was to own a Dodge Viper SRT1. Which I now do. My
viper colour is Adrenaline Red, interior is black leather with
Adrenaline Red seats. The seats are very comfortable, there are no
sharp corners, everything has smooth curves. The car is fully loaded,
and is standard transmission. This car is able to do the following:
0-60 mph low 3-second range, quarter mile mid 11-second range, top
speed 206 mph, and 60-0 mph in 106 feet. The vehicle price starts at
$102,485.00. My regular every day car is a Hyundai SantaFe XL. The
colour I chose is Night Sky Pearl. The interior is black leather.
This car is fully loaded. I have also given both my daughters their
own car. Both girls like a smaller compact vehicle.

I
spend most of my time with immediate family, close friends, and
business associates, (whom I have met through R.E.I.N), who are
positive, and very supportive in what I do. I spend most of my time
looking

-7-

for
investment properties, travelling, and volunteering with young girls
to help build self esteem in themselves. My daily routine usually is
to wake up at sunrise, and do an 1 1/2hrs. Of Kundalini style Yoga
and Meditation. I then spend my time looking for Real Estate deals,
and putting in offers. I now have 50 units and climbing. After
expenses I have 8 properties with an income per month, of $250 each,
20 properties with an income of $100 each, 10 properties with an
income of $200 each, and 12 properties with an income of $300 each.
For a total of $13,800 per month.

In
the evenings I volunteer with Girl Guides, helping young girls
understand that they have the power to

do
everything that they want to do, and to feel good about themselves.
I have also started a bursary

fund
at both Western University and McMaster University's, in Ontario,
(where my daughters attended school). These bursaries are for women
only, who would like to obtain a University Degree but do not have
the funding for it. I also volunteer at places such as woman's
shelters, and the Canadian Woman's Foundation to help put an end to
poverty, violence against women and children. I donate my time and
money to these causes

I
have always wanted to go to Turks and Cai cos. I now have been
several times and own a Cottage on the West Cai cos Island,
overlooking the Ocean. My cottage is one floor, open concept, the
kitchen, dining, and living rooms are all one large area. There is
no television, however there is a Bose stereo system, board games,
puzzles, books, and a beautiful large wooden deck off of the living
room/dining area, overlooking the clear blue ocean. The kitchen has
state of the art appliances, quartz counter top grey in colour and
white cabinets. The flooring throughout the home is maple stained in
a medium toned to bring out the woods natural colour. The dining area
has a large table to seat six, with a sliding door leading out to the
deck area. There are three bed rooms, all done in a cozy casual
feel, with earth tones, queen size beds in each room, one dresser,
one arm chair, a good sized closet, and a picturesque window
overlooking the ocean. The flooring is the maple continued on from
the rest of the home. The walls in the kitchen area are white and the
dining/living room they are light beige. There is one washroom with
double sink Vanity, a toilet, a bath fitters style shower and tub
with a shower curtain and built in closet to house towels, toilet
paper etc. The deck spans the full back of my cottage and has a
couple of seating areas with a natural gas BBQ at one end. Around
the deck are bushes, tropical trees, and flowering plants. The
breeze is a combination of salt water, lightly scented flowers
similar to lilacs. The deck has a wooden railing with glass panels so
as not to block the view from the house or while sitting on the deck
area. Off the deck is a wooden boardwalk that we built which leads
to the white sandy beach and ocean. The sound of the waves hitting
the shore is so peaceful. Off to the left we have a dock area and and
small boat house where we keep our Bow Rider style of boat in case of
emergencies, but also for leisure.

I
have travelled to Paris, Rome, Switzerland, Hawaiian Islands, Bali,
England, Scotland, Ireland, and all throughout Canada. One place
that I have promised to go with my 2 daughters is Disney in Orlando,
and we have been there. We took 14 days and saw every nook and
cranny of Disney, plus all of the parks outside of Disney, such as
the water park, glass bottom boats, etc. We had a very relaxing, and
blast of a time there. So much fun!! I also quite often go away on
yoga retreats in different parts of the world. As well I enjoy going
to several different weekend spas when ever I can.

I
spend between 1 to 1/2 hours each morning practising Yoga and
meditation. I have been able to tone my body, so that I feel better
about how I look. I know I do not need to diet just tone my body. I
have

-8-

a
full new wardrobe for each season, and I am very happy about how
everything looks on me. My health is great! I am the happiest I have
ever been and am very content with myself and my accomplishments.

Some
of the types of music I enjoy is Jazz, symphony, and sounds of the
environment. It has become

very
important to me as I age to have a calm, serene life style. The books
I like to read are usually self improvement, and real estate
investment type of books.

Hello and congratulations on your many successes.

I've just finished reading Don's book and am eager to connect up with any REIN members or people who have been using the ACRE system . In particular I would like to meet any who live here on Vancouver Island as I do. (I live between Sidney and Victoria)

I see that you are in Ladysmith which puts you only a short drive away. I would be very grateful if you could spare any time to share your experiences with me. I am new to investing in Real Estate and I'm a little leery of being mislead and taken advantage of. I want to meet some actual people who have used this system and it sounds like you have. I would love to buy you a coffee (or have a phone conversation if your not comfortable meeting in person)

You mention spending some of your time with other people who you have met through REIN. Are any of them here on the Island? If so I would very much like to get in touch with any of them also. I see that all of the REIN meetings are on the mainland and I was hoping to find out that there is a community of like minded people here on the island. Please let me know if there is.

Hoping to here from you soon,

Richard
