Too much rewinding

Hi Madison? Tina?,

I've been listening to audio files in the Knowledge Vault (Workshop Downloads) and I have a small issue. Whether I stream or download audio files, I find that the interface I am presented with is pretty basic. The only rewind ability I have is to go back thirty seconds at a time. I'm usually taking notes as I listen and sometimes I need to go back because I didn't quite catch something. Oftentimes all I need is to go back about 5 seconds. This may seem like nitpicking, but I find that over the course of an hour long audio file, all the additional (unnecessary) rewinding really adds up.

Is there an app or audio player that you could suggest for me that would give me greater control when rewinding? I am using an iMac computer at home with OSX. I have Quicktime, but I couldn't figure out how to get the audio to play in QT.

Thanks!
Paul

Hi Tina,

Thank you for your suggestion!

I downloaded Audacity and I have used it to listen to 2 or 3 audio files now. It is a great solution to my problem.
I was a songwriter and a recording engineer many years ago, so I like having some audio editing software on my computer...
...who knows, maybe I'll find some other uses for it (they say it's great for podcasts).

There is one bit of info that I discovered before I downloaded the software that I thought I would share with you, so you might pass this info along to others:

There were 3 reviews at the link you provided like this:

Just a warning note: This project has been hijacked by one of the SourceForce team members (see above the user "sf-editor1"). There has been reports that SF take over projects to make more money by distributing their own malware. Don't trust SF, instead download from the authors website directly.

This is not the 'real' Audacity download page, see audacityteam.org for their real page.

I followed the advice from the reviews and downloaded my version of the software from audacity team.org.

Thanks again!
Paul
