Brian Gauntlett was born and raised in New Zealand, graduating from high school in 1966 and at the urging of my father started a carreer in the food industry. For as long as I can remember I wanted to travel and in 1970 I left N.Z. for North America. I travelled throughout the U.S.A Mexico and Canada and when the money ran out I settled in Victoria, B.C. In 1973 I got married and for the next 20+ years my wife and I raised our family a son and a daughter and I worked in the food industry. We lived in Duncan, Westbank, Kelowna and Coquitlam B.C. In 1994 I changed careers and began working in the Readymix Concrete industry in Coqitlam B.C. and in 1996 I remarried and moved to Abbotsford B.C. In late 2005 my daughter gave me the book, Real Estate Investing in Canada by Don R. Campbell. I read it, and in June 2006 my wife and I attended the Quickstart programme in Calgary. From there there was no looking back. We realized that if we were ever going to have a shot at realizing our dreams, real estate was going to be the vehicle of choice for us. Next we went to Peter Kinch's 5 year plan and mapped out our course for success. In August of 2006 we made one of those all or nothing decisions. We decided we would quit our jobs, leave our kids and our grandchildren and move to Saskatoon SK. We did not own a home in B.C. and we had a limited amount of savings but we believed (after many hours of research) that we could be successful in Saskatchewan. In December of 2006 we purchased 2 half duplexes, and lived in one of them, and in July 2007 a 4 plex and in December a quarter section of land in Allan, SK. In March of 2008 we purchased our own home; a tired and well used rental home which we have completely renovated and updated. My wife and I love to travel, (to warm places) especially in January and February each year. We plan out our own itinery, grab the Lonely Planet and our backpacks and off we go. I enjoy reading John Grishem novels and I have a love for building, flying and yes, repairing remote control model airplanes. My wife loves to make quilts, scrapbook, knit and sew. Our charity of choice is World Vision. For every door we own, we sponsor a child. Together though, we are an awesome team when it come to renovating properties. It's work we enjoy doing together and its work that directly benefits us. We love it here in Saskatoon, it's a beautiful small city with friendly people, short commutes and lots of sunshine. We are continuing to purchase undervalued properties, renovating them and then finding great tenants to occupy them. We think Saskatoon is a great city to invest in. There is great potential here in SaskatchewanTravel- backpacking, scuba diving, model airplanes, gardening and reading.0Brian Gauntlett was born and raised in New Zealand, graduating from high school in 1966 and at the urging of my father started a carreer in the food industry. Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frighten us.
