Garth paid his dues during his 30-years business career spanning operations, senior management and ownership. After experiencing a business failure in 1998, Garth decided it was time to do something entirely new. And with that began a new career investing in real estate, beginning in 2002.
In 2003 Garth joined REIN and his real estate business then grew exponentially. He has purchased over 150 units of residential properties, with a property portfolio that has included houses, duplexes, apartment buildings, commercial properties and raw land for development. Projects have included over 60 renovation and re-sale of houses, condo conversions of 5 apartment buildings, and the purchase and renovation of dozens of single and multi-family rental properties. Garth and wife Debbie have owned both unfurnished and furnished rentals, and has successfully completed lease-options (rent-to-own) and agreements-for-sale, and a US sun-belt seasonal rental property. And in 2013 Garth joined REIN's new Advisory Board, and looks forward to the opportunity to contribute to the continuing enhancement of REIN Members' experience and education.
In 2007 Garth and partner Brian Crooks launched REMA, a software product designed to provide investors with ultra-fast analysis of prospective purchases, effective management of their rental property portfolio and accurate cash-flow projections.
In 2009 Garth became licensed as a Mortgage Agent with Jencor Mortgage Corp in Calgary, with a focus on providing financing and portfolio advice for rental property owners across Canada. Garth provides mortgages for residential, multi-family and commercial properties.
Garth also provides short-term mortgage loans from his own resources.
Garth and wife Debbie's home base is in Chestermere, just outside Calgary, and they also enjoy their Arizona winter home. They both enjoy being kept young by their two adult children and spouses and their four vibrant grand-daughters.
