I practice pediatric emergency medicine at Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. My wife of almost 12 years, Sherri, is also a physician, and maintains a busy practice in obstetrics and gynecology in Calgary.
Together we have four small children, three girls and a boy, ranging in age from 9 down to 3.
Sherri and I spent a large chunk of our adult lives studying and training (I also trained in veterinary medicine, and practiced in that discipline for five years), and obviously we've been extraordinarily busy with practice and family life.
Nonetheless, we recognize that real estate investment represents a path to real, long-term financial security, and so after years of talk about this but no real action, decided to take action - and so I joined REIN in September in 2013. So far it's been a great ride, amazing people, stellar resources, and we're looking to produce amazing results.
We've formed a subsidiary real estate investment corporation, SixStrong Properties Corp (www.sixstrongproperties.com): Six of us, with goal of at least six strong properties per year!
One major aspect to our "personal Belize" is that we want to generate the financial freedom to practice medicine without thought to remuneration, so that we can become heavily involved in international medical work and education - without compromising our children's education and opportunities. We believe that real estate will help us achieve this.
